A recent survey conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs has found that despite the economy and concerns about the H1N1 virus, more than 60% of Americans say they will take a holiday trip this year. Unfortunately, many of those surveyed, especially in the 18-35 demographic, might consider international travel health insurance as unnecessary.

The survey, however, throws up some good news. About 58% of people surveyed said they will not change their holiday plans because of the economy. The survey also indicates that those who will change their plans because of the economy will still be taking a trip, which means that they will probably just downscale a bit.

It is important for people not to forget travel insurance if traveling abroad. While it might seem like a luxury, it really is not. If you fall ill when abroad, it will burn a huge hole in your pocket. International flight insurance will cost a bit extra and it might be worthwhile to buy the two together.

As with any insurance, international travel health insurance can be bought at great deals online. Compare prices and read the fine print about coverage before deciding on a plan.And remember to enjoy your holiday!
