Travelling abroad with pre existing conditions
Filed Under: FAQ
Author: Guest
Q: My daughter plans to be abroad in France for several month, maybe a year. She has a pre-existing condition, Grave's Disease (hyperthyroid). She would like to maintain a level of health insurance. What options will work for her?
A: Pre existing conditions are typically not covered under any of the plans. However the Atlas International can provide you with coverage for an “acute onset of a pre existing condition” up till $15,000 for ages under 70 years. You can review the definition of “Pre existing” conditions in the brochure. Treatment must be received within 24 hours of symptoms.

Taking an International Ski Vacation? Don’t Forget Insurance

Novices and experts alike can get injured skiing, so don't think that just because you've graduated from the bunny slopes you no longer need to worry about broken legs and other injuries. And simply being careful while skiing is not enough, because freak accidents can occur at any time. When those accidents occur, you need to make certain you have insurance coverage for the country you're visiting, otherwise you could be facing some very expensive fees.
You see, even if you have an insurance policy in your native country, it likely doesn't cover activity that occurs in other countries. So you will be considered uninsured in the country you're vacationing in, which means you will have to pay for your emergency room care out of your own pocket, which can get very expensive very fast.
But international health insurance policies, which can be bought online with a few clicks of the mouse, will absorb most of the high costs of medical care, leaving you to pay only a fraction of the costs. Plus you can buy it for short periods of time, making it perfect for vacations. It will offer you tremendous savings if you need to use it and peace of mind even if you don't. So while you're booking your airfare and resort lodging, don't forget to buy insurance as well.

International Medical Insurance More Important than Ever in Wake of Louis Majesty Event

Sadly, two passengers aboard the ship died, and 14 others were injured. Should you become injured in international waters, there's a very good chance your insurance policy will not cover you. That means you will need to pay for medical coverage yourself, which can be extremely expensive.
However, if you have international medical insurance you will be able to receive high quality healthcare at an affordable rate. It will cover minor and major incidents alike, offering you robust protection in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
Medical care may be the last thing you'd think about when planning your next cruise, but it's definitely not something you should forget. As the Louis Majesty tragedy reminds us, anything can and sometimes does happen on a cruise ship.
