Around the World with Health Intact: Sponsored by Travel InsuranceFiled Under: Blogging
Author: Blog Writer
When Jules Verne wrote his classic “Around the World in Eighty Days,” international travel wasn’t all that popular, nor was international travel insurance. Clearly, Phileas Fogg and his valet Passepartout did not have to deal with the multitude of plans and benefits available. But then, medical care was not as expensive as it is today.
While Verne’s book was supposed to be a science fiction novel, it is now possible to travel around the world in less than tenth that time! While Mankind has undoubtedly advanced in many areas, more and more dangers lurk around every corner of the world. Attacks on aid workers have increased dramatically over the last decade, and acts of terrorism routinely find a place on news bulletins.
The need for international travel insurance has only increased. Typical benefits offered by travel insurance plans include care for unplanned medical care, accidental death and dismemberment, emergency evacuation, and repatriation of remains. While it may sound pessimistic to think about what might go wrong even before the trip, it only makes common sense.
Depending on the kind of travel and accommodation you are planning, it may be a good idea to also purchase trip cancellation insurance. Else, any event that cancels your trip may end up in the loss of a lot of money for you. And remember, after Fogg’s round-the-world trip, he won 20,000 British pounds—you don’t want to owe $20,000 in medical expenses!
