  • Health Care Reform Won’t Cover International Insurance Needs

You can’t turn on a computer, tv, or radio for very long these days without hearing debate about health care reform. No matter which side of the fence you fall on in the debate, one thing is for sure; any changes to your health care plans will not help you during international travel. For that reason, international health insurance is a must for travelers.

Even if the government were to introduce an aggressive new federally-run healthcare package, it would very likely still only apply to citizens when they are within U.S. borders. So if you’re traveling internationally for as little as a day and as much as a year, you’ll definitely want to look into international medical insurance.

International travel health insurance assures you of affordably-priced healthcare while you travel overseas. Without it, the simplest procedures could cost you hundreds of dollars. Difficult procedures such as surgeries may cost you thousands!

Quite often, people assume that the health insurance policy they have through their employer will cover them anywhere they travel. This is usually not true. And the odds are good that if and when the government rolls out a health care plan that offers coverage for all and sweeping reform, people will assume their new coverage follows them wherever they go. This will simply not be the case. It’s important to know that if you’re traveling abroad, international medical insurance is your only guarantee of obtaining the affordable medical coverage you need.
